Uniting Healthcare Leadership Across Northern California
Proudly serving physicians and healthcare organizations in Butte, Glenn, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas, Sierra, Shasta and Trinity County.

The Northern California Rural Medical Association and the North Valley Medical Association joins approximately 400 like-minded physicians, residents, and appointed medical students in partnership with the California Medical Association in Sacramento on a designated day. Participants meet with their local legislators during scheduled time slots, taking an active role in shaping the local healthcare landscape. Advocacy Day is April 8, 2026.
It is vital for rural medical communities to unite, raise their voices, and help shape healthcare policies. 2024 major issues were Rural Health, Maternal Health Equity, Obstetric Deserts, and Reproductive Health. By coming together, rural medical societies have elevated their voices and been heard throughout the state.
The California Medical Association’s (CMA) House of Delegates (HOD) includes nearly 500 delegates elected by component and specialty societies, representing every practice type and region. The HOD convenes annually to debate critical issues, review actionable reports, hear from educational speakers, and address matters referred by the Board of Trustees, including Bylaw changes and charters. During the Annual Session, delegates elect officers, honor members, and receive updates on CMA activities.
Delegates and alternates are elected through various pathways. While only delegates may address the House during the session, any CMA member can provide online testimony on major issues or submit written testimony via their member dashboard. This year’s session is October 16–18 in Sacramento. Get involved—collectively, your voice matters and must continue to be heard.
