Sponsorship Opportunities

Our Mission

Building a Physician Community — The Butte-Glenn Medical Society (BGMS), now Northern California Rural Medical Association (NCRMA), believes that strengthening our region’s healthcare system requires more than training programs. It requires fostering a sense of belonging, connection, and professional community among physicians.

Background

The Butte-Glenn Medical Society (BGMS) founded Healthy Rural California (HRC) in 2018 to address healthcare access challenges in the North State after the Camp Fire by creating local residency programs.

  • Current Residents (2025): 12

  • Projected Residents (2026): 20

  • Retention Rate: Approximately 50% remain in the area after graduation

  • Economic Impact: Residency programs boost the local economy by $6 million annually

Over the next ten years, this could conservatively result in 40 new physicians living and practicing in Butte and Glenn Counties — a transformative impact on regional access to care.

These collaborations are designed to support a sustainable pathway for future physicians who will serve the North State for decades to come.

Many students in our community aspire to become healthcare professionals but face significant barriers:

  • Financial challenges – prohibitive costs of education and materials

  • Lack of confidence – self-doubt in pursuing rigorous academic pathways

  • Limited mentorship – minimal exposure to medical career guidance

  • Home environment challenges – limited encouragement or support for higher education goals

Program Overview:
Each participating school will host a Medical Education Club, led by a qualified facilitator.

  • Estimated Cost per School: $10,000 (ten-month school schedule) Sponsors may support specific initiatives at a smaller sponsorship rate.

  • Format: Conducted during lunch or after school hours

Key Program Components:

  • Inspire exploration of diverse healthcare careers (physicians, nursing, allied health)

  • Provide hands-on activities, exposure to medical technology, and field trips

  • Connect students with local healthcare professionals for mentorship

  • Strengthen school–community relationships to develop career pathways

  • Build a sustainable, long-term pipeline of future healthcare professionals

Impact:
Sponsorship directly supports the next generation of healthcare leaders while strengthening the long-term health and resilience of our community.
