U.S. Senator Adam Schiff is working to revive a rural hospital that shutdown last fall in Northern California but is bracing for health care funding to be a continued fight in Washington, D.C. In an interview on California Politics 360 outside of the shuttered hospital at Glenn Medical Center, Schiff said he came to the area in part because of the death of the region’s Congressman, Doug LaMalfa. He also said it was to share news that language to try to reopen the hospital was included in a funding bill that was recently passed by the U.S. House of Representative.
Dr. Doug Matthews, Treasurer and Secretary of the Northern California Rural Medical Association, is actively advocating for the reopening of Glenn Medical Center, emphasizing the harmful effects its closure has had on patient access to care across the North State.

Shasta, Dunsmuir, Yreka, Weaverville, Fall River Mills, Shasta Lake City and other North State cities.
